Israeli drone strike kills four siblings in Gaza tent shelter

An Israeli drone strike killed four Palestinian siblings and another civilian in Khan Yunis, southern Gaza. More than 743 Palestinians have died seeking aid near GHF centers, drawing sharp criticism from NGOs.

AhlulBayt News Agency: At least five Palestinian civilians, including four children from the same family, were killed when an Israeli drone strike targeted a tent sheltering displaced people in southern Gaza.

According to the Palestinian WAFA news agency, the victims were four siblings — Yazan (12), Amjad (10), Muhannad (7), and Mohammad Fahd Abu al-Khair (6) — who died when their tent was hit in Khan Yunis governorate.

The report added that several others were wounded and transported to Nasser Hospital for treatment.

On Saturday alone, Israel’s ongoing assault killed at least 78 more Palestinians throughout the Gaza Strip.

Targets of the bombardment included a UN-operated school and a residential building in Gaza City, as well as an area near an aid distribution point run by the controversial Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF), backed by Israel and the US, in Rafah.

Over 700 Palestinians killed seeking aid in Gaza
The Gaza Health Ministry announced Saturday that at least 743 Palestinians have been killed and more than 4,891 injured in recent weeks while attempting to receive humanitarian assistance at GHF sites.

In a joint statement last week, more than a dozen NGOs called for GHF to be shut down immediately, saying the program forces over two million people into “overcrowded, militarized zones where they face daily gunfire and mass casualties.”

They wrote, “Palestinians in Gaza now face a terrible choice: die from hunger or risk their lives trying to reach food to feed their families.”

Israel sends team to Qatar for truce talks
Late Saturday, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office announced that a delegation would be sent to Qatar on Sunday to discuss a potential 60-day ceasefire in Gaza.

However, it said Hamas’s requested amendments to the proposal were “unacceptable to Israel.”

The announcement followed Hamas’s earlier statement expressing a “positive” stance on the truce plan and its readiness to begin negotiations for implementation.

Israel began its full-scale military campaign on October 7, 2023, following a surprise operation by Hamas carried out in retaliation for ongoing Israeli abuses against Palestinians.

To date, Israel has failed to meet its stated goals of eliminating Hamas and freeing captives, while causing the deaths of 57,338 Palestinians — most of them women and children — and injuring 135,957 more, according to Gaza’s Health Ministry.
